Date/Time: September 12th (100min)

Topic/ Skill: Reading- Forming questions based on a passage. 

Teacher Presentation: During this class period the professor summarized the passage they read in the previous class. From then he introduced the activity for the next class which was a guest speaker panel with former CIES students. The class assignment that he had them work on in preparation for this was 5 questions covering various topics about learning and using language in their academic and professional lives. 

Classroom Management: The teacher divided the question topics evenly amongst each of the students. Then he set clear expectations and guidelines for what he wanted their questions to look and sound like. He then gave them the rest of the class period to create, submit, and edit their questions. 

Material: Canvas Discussion Board  

Student Participation: Everyone created their own questions and posted them on the discussion board for the professor to review. 

Feedback Provided: The teacher would review their questions as they got posted on the discussion board. From there he would provide them with any corrections and feedback to make their questions better and more appropriate for the Q&A. 

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I learned how to get students to be comfortable asking questions while also giving them the space to independently make mistakes that they can learn from.
