Topic/Skill: Speaking 

Feedback provided to the tutee: I asked him questions about his day to day life and asked him to respond back to me in English to the best of his ability. In doing so I was able to stop and correct any grammatical or even vocabulary errors/questions he might have had during our conversation. In the end I left him with some sentences and words that he can review and practice using in his English conversations before our next session. 

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that his main struggle comes from not having the full vocabulary to say exactly what he wants to say, however, i was very impressed for the most part as I could understand what he meant to say and only needed minor corrections that can be worked on more in future sessions.

   Date & Time: September 17th, 2025 (430-530 pm) Location: Outside Strozier Library on a bench Topic/Skill: Speaking This next lesson was spent with Seunghye going over the Duolingo test again. Before we started, I showed her a PowerPoint I had made for my TEFL course. It was on Idioms and it seemed to be very helpful to her. A lot of advanced students have trouble with idioms, because they are not as literal as they say. For instance, when I say "you're on thin ice" it doesn't mean I am telling that person they are literally on ice. I had the PowerPrint printed out so it was easy for her to read while I explained each slide. Then, we went over some Duolingo Test practice pictures. We went through three, and she got better with each one. One of the pictures was of a boat on a dock on a lake in the mountains, and she had a little trouble with this.  Date/Time: September 2nd  Topic/ Skill: Grammar--Future Continuous Tense  Teacher Presentation: The teacher modeled how to use the future continuous tense in everyday language while also providing easy ways on how to remember when to use it.  Classroom Management: The teacher timed each section of the lesson very well, broke it up into parts. Parts included: teaching, examples, discussion, activity, review.  Material: Powerpoint and Textbook Student Participation: Everyone gave their own example during the discussion and activity points of the lecture.  Feedback Provided: The teacher would listen to the example sentences given by the students and would correct the vocabulary or grammar tense errors. Additionally, he applauded those who made good efforts and had correct usage of the verb tense. Date/Time: Friday, 9/8/2025, 10:00–10:50 a.m. Topic/Skill: Grammar – Present Continuous Tense & Modals (Can) / Beginners Teacher Presentation: The teacher reviewed the previous lesson using the computer to project content on the board. He summarized the use of the present continuous tense in daily English and gave examples. Then, he asked students to continue the practice exercises assigned in the last class. Classroom Management: The teacher structured the lesson by timing each activity: reviewing grammar, writing 5 positive and 3 negative sentences in the present continuous tense, reading and correcting sentences with partners, and completing a fill-in-the-blank exercise.
