Simin Harvin CO#4 and CO#5
Date/Time: Friday, 9/12/2025, 09:00–10:50 a.m.
Topic/Skill: Composition and writing / Beginners
Teacher Presentation:
The teacher presented the agenda and plan for the day. He reviewed the writing
method, focusing on planning how to write essays and short paragraphs. He
explained journal-style writing and then asked the students to write about
themselves.
Classroom Management:
The teacher structured the lesson by timing each activity. First, students
reviewed the homework essay from the last class and had time to go over the
feedback and make corrections. Then, the teacher gave 30 minutes for students
to write an essay in class. The subject was: What
things do you do regularly to be healthy?
The teacher instructed students to write the essay
independently, without any help. He explained the requirements for the essay,
specifying that it should have an introduction, body, and conclusion paragraph.
He also outlined the steps for writing the essay: creating an outline, writing
the first draft, revising for the second draft, and rewriting. Additionally, he
emphasized that grammar was not a priority at the beginning of the writing
process; it would be addressed last.
Materials:
Computer (using Google links) and whiteboard.
Student Participation:
All students reviewed the teacher’s feedback and worked on revising their
homework essays in pairs. Then they wrote a new essay in class.
Feedback Provided:
The teacher walked around the classroom, checking students’ work and providing
feedback. He encouraged them to correct their own mistakes by giving hints.
Lesson(s) Learned:
I learned that having a good plan for teaching writing is very important. It is
helpful to teach students the basic steps of writing and encourage them to
discuss the topic in class. Walking around the classroom to check students’
work allows the teacher to provide effective feedback.
