Simin Harvin TS#10 & TS#11
Date/Time: Saturday 9/27/2025, 10:30-12:30 pm
Location: Leon
county Library, Thomasville RD.
Topic/Skill: Grammar,
listening and Reading
I checked and gave him feedback on
his homework from Friday. As usual, we worked on worksheets I prepared for
grammar, listening, and reading at the beginner level. Below are the areas we
covered during the session:
Grammar
·
Explained and practiced the Simple Future Tense.
·
Explained and practiced Prepositions of Time
(in, on, at, before/after, and during).
Comprehension, Reading, and Listening
·
Listening:
I read a short paragraph to him and then asked questions about the story.
·
Reading:
He read a short paragraph and answered related questions. I will need to
provide a higher-level text for next time.
Homework
·
Grammar practice handout.
·
Reading handout with comprehension questions.
Speaking (Conversation)
We talked about New Year in his country and how it is celebrated. His language
is mixed with Turkish, which I can understand somewhat because of my parents’
background. We also discussed some famous Turkish songs and similar vocabulary
in his language and Turkish. In addition, we talked about food in Kazakhstan
and the types of dishes people eat there. I am trying to create conversations
that capture his interest and encourage him to speak more.
Improvements
He has made progress in comprehension, listening, and vocabulary. His grammar
has also shown improvement.
Next Session Plan
·
Review his homework.
·
Work on the Future Continuous Tense and
Prepositions of Movement/Direction.
·
Continue with reading and listening, using more
challenging texts (low-intermediate to intermediate level), since the beginner
level is becoming too easy for him.
