Topic/Skill: Grammar, listening and Reading

I prepared worksheets for grammar, listening, and reading at the beginner level. Below are the areas I worked on with him during the session.

Grammar

·         Explained the simple present tense and verbs. We practiced negatives and questions using a handout I created.

·         Introduced prepositions of place/position (where something is). He practiced with examples and a worksheet. Below is the list of prepositions we worked on:

o    in → in the room, in the box

o    on → on the table, on the wall

o    at → at the bus stop, at the door

o    under → under the chair

o    over → over the bridge

o    next to / beside → beside the school

o    between → between the trees

o    behind → behind the house

o    in front of → in front of the shop

Comprehension, Reading, Listening

·         Listening: I prepared a couple of short paragraphs with questions. I read them aloud and asked him to explain what he understood. Then I asked him comprehension questions about the text.

·         Reading: He read a short paragraph and answered related questions.

Homework

·         A grammar practice handout.

·         A reading handout with comprehension questions, based on a summary story of White Fang by Jack London that I created.

Next Session Plan

·         Review his homework.

·         Continue practicing grammar and introduce another set of prepositions.
