Topic/Skill: Grammar, listening and Reading

 

I checked and gave him feedback on his reading assignment. We also worked on worksheets I prepared for grammar, listening, and reading at the beginner level. Below are the areas we covered during the session:

 

Grammar

Explained interrogative words (question words) and practiced with worksheets. We also practiced negatives and questions using a handout I created.
List of question words:

1.      Who – person
Who is your teacher?

2.      What – thing / information
What is your name?

3.      Where – place
Where do you live?

4.      When – time
When is your birthday?

5.      Why – reason
Why are you happy?

6.      Which – choice
Which book do you want?

7.      Whose – possession / owner
Whose bag is this?

8.      How – way / manner
How are you today?

Comprehension, Reading, Listening

·         Listening: I read a short paragraph to him and then asked questions about the story.

·         Reading: He read a short paragraph and answered related questions

Homework

·         Grammar practice handout.

·         Reading handout with comprehension questions.

Speaking (Conversation):

We started a conversation about his day and what he did last Sunday. I tried to make him feel comfortable and encouraged him to speak. I asked him to use complete sentences. I allocated about 10 minutes for this part.
