Date/Time: October 24 (1hr) Location: Kellogg Building  Topic/Skill: Grammar+Speaking Feedback provided to the tutee: We agreed that we wanted to work more on grammar in use as she continues to level up in classes and improve on what she had been learning last term. Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: One thing I learned is that even as the tutee is learning more and improving in some areas, you may still need to go back and review other parts that they have learned in the past to reinforce these ideas.

Date/Time: October 3 (2hr) Location: Strozier Library  Topic/Skill:Speaking/Presenting  Feedback provided to the tutee: We went over her final presentation for the session. It was about eating/table manner differences between Americans and other countries. We went over how to better word her presentation and focused on fluency of her reading and at times corrected some pronunciation of words that were more difficult for her. Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: What I learned from my tutee was that she actually does want a more professional vocabulary, so she enjoyed when I made suggestions for some word changes that would elevate her presentations. I think this helped me consider a lot more of what type of vocabulary each student is interested in learning as she is a business students and probably wants to learn more professional vocabulary to better explain herself in meetings and business discussions.

Date/Time: October 1 (1hr) Location: Kellogg Building  Topic/Skill: Reading/Speaking Feedback provided to the tutee: We went over some of the book's he has read/ has been interested in reading. He mentioned that he is trying to improve his grammar in use to reading has helped him practice his sentence structures in vocabulary. The feedback I provided to him was to read more things that he is specifically interested in, that way it feels like less of a chore and is more enjoyable. I recommended him books like George Orwells 1984. Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: What I learned is that some students may need more than just error corrections and in person reinforcement in order to learn some of the language and grammar in use. In this case the tutee also needs a physical connection to the language so books and sentence examples really help him improve his speech.
